KIPP Columbus, a growing network of free, open enrollment public charter schools in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a creative, outgoing, and positive relationship-builder to serve as the Office Assistant of one of our four schools.

Nationally, KIPP students are graduating at four times the national average for low-income students.
Founded in 2008 with 50 students in 5th grade, KIPP Columbus is currently serving nearly 1,400 students in grades K-10 at a new campus built on the grounds of a former golf course in Northeast Columbus. By 2020, KIPP Columbus will serve nearly 2,000 students in grades preK-12. During the 2016-2017 school year, KIPP Columbus had the highest amount of academic growth of any urban school in Ohio.

Our state-of-the-art campus provides a transformational education setting including college-level technology, flexible and dynamic learning spaces in and outside of the building, and access to locally sourced fruits and vegetables prepared by our in-house chef.
The Office Assistant will provide for the smooth daily operation of the school by working directly with the Operations Manager, School Leader, staff, students, and families of KIPP Columbus. The Office Assistant is the first point of contact and face of the organization to our community and various stakeholders. As a central member of the school’s operations staff, the Office Assistant is vital to our mission of helping students and families navigate their journey to college.
Duties and Responsibilities
Front Office Management
Answer phones and the door in a friendly and professional manner
Sign students and visitors in and out of the school, and help ensure students leave with appropriate parent/authorized guardians
Receives, distributes, and tracks deliveries and supplies to appropriate staff members.
Leads efficient office operations and superior customer relations with families, staff, and visitors.
Collect and log payments from students/parents (e.g., shirt purchases, etc.)
Distribute student messages at the end of each day from family members and or the school.
Supports the student application and enrollment process by receiving and maintaining accurate records including proofs of residence, school photos, and emergency contact information.
Dispense student medications as necessary
Back Office Management
Orders and checks-in supplies when needed while maintaining spend within the budget guidelines provided and guidance from the Operations Manager
Establishes and maintains an organized filing system within all office information and filing systems.
Provides administrative support to School Administration
- Ensures all equipment is in working order, schedules repairs as needed.
- Managing report card/progress report distribution (Ex. stuffing envelopes, printing, etc.)
Serve as a full-time and engaged member of KIPP Columbus's staff, including accompanying students on field trips, assisting with student recruitment and enrollment, volunteering at Saturday school, and doing whatever it takes for our students and teachers to be successful.
Participating in all staff meetings, professional development, and school-wide projects

The Office Assistant should have prior administrative experience and computer literacy, as well as demonstrate responsibility and excellent organizational and communication skills. The Office Assistant should also be friendly and able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment. Experience working with Ohio information and data systems (EMIS, ODDEX, SOES, etc.) is preferred. This position requires an individual who believes deeply in the mission and values of KIPP Columbus.
