KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) is a national network of free, open enrollment, college preparatory schools dedicated to preparing students in underserved communities for success in college and in life.  There are 209 KIPP schools in 20 states and the District of Columbia serving almost 90,000 students. KIPP Metro Atlanta currently operates eight KIPP schools including four middle schools, three primary schools and one high school, as well as, the KIPP Through College Program which supports students on their journey “to and through” college. 
 
KIPP MAC provides financial and operational support and oversight to KIPP Metro Atlanta schools, develops instructional initiatives designed to strengthen the schools’ academic programs, and implements each school’s high school placement and alumni services through the KIPP Through College Program.
 
Job Summary: 
The KIPP Metro Atlanta Collaborative is seeking a Development Associate to assist in the execution and growth of a comprehensive development program. The wide range of responsibilities will include database management, foundation and corporate supporter research, grant writing support, and event and tour planning. This position will offer broad exposure to multiple aspects of fundraising and the ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong interest in fundraising and nonprofit management and a commitment to education. 

Job Responsibilities:
Database Management and Gift Processing60%
  • Process all donations using Raisers Edge (RE) and produce and send acknowledgement letters
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of constituents, donations, events, and deadlines in RE
  • Produce analytical reports to evaluate fundraising progress
  • Maintains accurate accounting of all unrestricted and restricted income and its sources
  • Interfaces with the finance and AST team to fulfill information requests and maintain reporting accuracy
  • Generates queries, reports, exports, and any other collection data as needed
  • Maintains excellent grant files in compliance with requirements of the year-end audit
Donor Communication and Event Management25%
  • Assist with design, production, and mailing of donor communication pieces, including annual year-end mailing
  • Communicate with donors on an ad hoc basis to address questions and clarify gift intentions
  • Plan and manage school tours and small donor events
  • Manages many logistics for larger events, including venue coordination, catering, run of show, and volunteer management
  • Lead individual ticket sales/marketing for events and manage invitations and RSVPS
Grant Writing and Reporting15%
  • Collects supporting documentation and data in support of major grant applications and reports
  • Drafts applications and reports for smaller grants
  • Researches new grant opportunities in support of KIPP and school goals
Candidate Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • One to two years of experience, preferably in a non-profit setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook);
  • Raiser’s Edge Experience preferred, but not required
  • Experience in development and grant writing preferred, but not required
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strategic thinker; ability to think critically about issues and solutions
  • Team-player capable of working both collaboratively and independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Compensation
Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. A competitive benefits package will also be offered.
